Bert Halse Award

The Bert Halse Award honours achievement and dedication to the Institute of Electrical Inspectors and the Electrical profession, which without passionate people involved would not exist.

Current Criteria

The following is the current selection criteria for a Bert Halse Award recipient:

The Bert Halse award may be presented each year in the form of a certificate to an I.E.I. member. The selection of the award is made by the Board of Directors.Nominations for the Bert Halse award to be sent to the Board of Directors no later than 1 month before the AGM on the form contained in each year’s AGM Agenda documentation.

This award can be presented to a person more than once throughout their tenure with the Institute.

That this award be presented to recognise and honour a member who has been selected on any of the following grounds;

·          Has given outstanding service to the I.E.I, and,

·         Has given outstanding service to the Electrical Inspection profession or,

·         Has served the electrical industry and related areas, participating in the IEI Associations' and  activities.

·         And is of good standing in the community"

History

The Bert Halse Award

At the IEI Federal Executive Council Meeting 6th February 1978 held at Sydney County Council Five Dock District Establishment, Fairlight st, Five Dock the Members of the executive committee moved the following motion:

 "That the Executive Committee institute an encouragement award to be known as the Bert Halse Award which would be for presentation to a member of the Institute of Electrical Inspectors.

That this award be presented each year in the form of a certificate and a cash award of such amount as determined by the Executive Council ( or an article of approximate value) and presented to an I.E.I. member of each state in turn generally to correspond to the state where the A.G.M. is held. Where the A.G.M. is held in another state the presentation to be made at a mutually convenient time and place by the Federal President or his nominee.

 That the selection of the award be made by three state councillors appointed by the State Division. The name of the member selected to be submitted to the Executive Council at least one month before the A.G.M.

 That this award be presented to recognise and honour a member who has been selected on the following grounds;

·         Has given outstanding service to the Electrical Inspection profession.

·         Has given outstanding service to the I.E.I.

·         Has contributed valuable material for publication in the I.E.I. Journal.

·         Has served the electrical industry and related areas, participating in the electrical associations' and organisations' activities.

·         Is of good standing in the community"

At the Institutes 2010 AGM and, which was the first year the award was not presented since 1978 and again at the 2013 AGM, the members attending requested the IEI Board of Directors review the selection criteria for future AGM's.

The Bert Halse Award Certificate may be signed by any two of the following:Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary or Financial Director.
